Nordic Walking is a unique combination of walking and skiing while using specially designed poles. Even if you’ve never tried Nordic Walking before, we invite you to attend this class and Susan will teach you the ropes while everyone enjoys the area’s spectacular weather and views.

  • Bariatric Support Group Meetings – Are you considering weight loss surgery? Will you be undergoing bariatric surgery soon? Have you already had bariatric surgery? Regardless of where you are in your weight loss journey, we welcome you to attend Susan’s Bariatric Support Group meetings, which are free and open to the public. • ElliptiGO – Riding an ElliptiGO is an incredible option for anyone who can’t run outside anymore due to orthopedic issues. The ElliptiGO is best described as a machine that allows you to “run on air,” giving you the same feeling and workout as running, but without the harsh impact on your joints. AFAC gym holds ElliptiGO classes during the warmer months. It’s a one-of-a-kind opportunity to try out these state-of-the-art elliptical bicycles.
  • Pickleball – Everyone should try this game with the funny name! Pickleball combines tennis, badminton, and ping-pong into a fun pastime that provides a calorie-burning, mood-lifting, low-impact workout.
  • Total Body Conditioning – The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, so our Total Body Conditioning class switches up your routine every week to help you reach your goals. We never repeat the same workout twice, making this an exciting and always challenging mix-up of a class that’s appropriate for all levels.
  • Kickboxing – The Cardio Kickboxing Classes at AFAC gym give you a solid aerobic workout while helping you to improve your coordination, balance, form, footwork, and striking technique.
  • POP Mat Pilates® – This fast-paced, mat-based Pilates class is a powerful fusion of rhythmic music, choreography, and strength training.
  • Barre Classes – Using a ballet-style barre, you’ll perform a series of isometric movements and also do some floor work with weights, exercise balls, resistance bands, and more. It’s cardio, strength training, and stretching all in one!
  • TRX – Total Body Resistance Exercise, or TRX, was developed by a Navy Seal who was looking for ways to keep in shape while on difficult military missions. During TRX classes at our gym, you’ll use a TRX Suspension Trainer to perform a variety of challenging bodyweight resistance exercises.

What Are the Benefits of Group Classes at Our Gym?

If you’re still wondering whether group fitness classes are for you, consider the many benefits that they offer. In many ways, exercising together is better than trying to go it alone!

  • You’ll add variety to your workout – When you work out by yourself, chances are you’re doing the same moves over and over. This not only gets boring, but it can also cause you to reach a plateau in your fitness level. Push through that plateau by adding new variety and challenges to your routine. You’ll reach your goals faster and expand your horizons, too.
  • You’ll be motivated and inspired – People have a way of motivating you. When you’re at that point you can’t complete another rep, your classmates will be there to cheer you on. Plus, there will always be someone there who’s better than you to inspire you to push your limits.
  • You’ll join a fitness community – Being a part of a fitness class also makes you part of a fitness community. The people you’re in class with can help provide you with the guidance, advice, and support you need to reach your fitness goals.
  • You’ll learn proper form – Going to a group class is a great alternative to working out alone with a personal trainer because the class instructor will be there to teach you proper form for each movement. This can help you prevent injury and get the most out of each exercise.
  • You’ll be held accountable – Sometimes you just don’t feel like going to the gym, right? By being a part of a fitness class, you’ll have a group of friends who will hold you accountable and motivate you to go to class, even when you’re not feeling it.
  • You’ll make friends – As an adult, it can be tough to make new friends. If you feel like your social life could use a little spark, join our fitness classes! You’ll meet new people and make friends who you already have something in common with – a passion for fitness.
