Boost Your Recovery With These 5 Foods

5 Recovery Foods
You associate certain foods with a healthy lifestyle or to help you lose weight but you might surprised to learn that some foods can help you recover after a big day at the gym too. With the right food choices, it could help you battle the pain better. Check out these foods that could make a difference in your recovery.
1.Salmon
Packed with not only lean protein, salmon also contains Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3’s help fight inflammation while the lean protein works to build and restore muscles.
2. Blueberries
These little berries are packed with antioxidants which can help prevent any free-radical damage to your muscles. The Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition reported that recovery was boosted after one had a blueberry shake pre and post- workout.
3.Tart Cherries
The same Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition suggests that this fruit could help with muscle pain, energy and promote muscle recovery for those who run and improve not only recovery time but performance as well for those who lift.
4.Bananas
This fruit is packed with potassium.  A lack of potassium can lead to muscle cramping or even involuntary contractions. Since potassium can be easily lost through excessive sweating, giving your body a boost of potassium can prevent your recovery from being hindered by cramps.
5.Coconut
The medium chain fats contained in coconut oil can aid in recovery and even endurance when it’s used sparingly. Coconut water replaces electrolytes and carbohydrates and is a good way to use coconut for recovery.
