Meet Our Personal Trainers
At AFAC gym, we have three National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainers on staff. They have years of experience working in the fitness industry and are qualified to teach many unique disciplines. In addition, our Thornton gym is fully stocked with all the strength training, cardio, and other equipment you’ll need for your workouts with your personal trainer. Before or after your workouts, you can enjoy our many amenities such as our Cryotherapy chamber and hydro massage bed. We can also track your progress with our InBody 770 body composition machine.
Susan Schaffner, Owner of AFAC Gym
Susan Schaffner is the owner of AFAC Gym. Her life’s passion is to help others live their healthiest, happiest lives. She teaches many classes at AFAC Gym including, Nordic Walking, Power Plate and More, Functional Fitness, Balance-N-Core, and Lunchtime Fusion. She also holds free monthly Bariatric Support Group meetings that are open to the public.
As a personal trainer at AFAC Gym who is dedicated to supporting each client’s individual health goals, Susan has earned a long list of credentials including:

Chris Depiero
Chris was born and raised in Colorado. He has always loved being outside enjoying all our beautiful state has to offer. His fitness adventure began at age 7 when he started karate. His commitment to combat sports has grown ever since then, leading him to study multiple styles of martial arts throughout his life.
In high school, Chris played football where he learned to love lifting weights, staying after school to spend hours in the weight room.
Years later, Chris focused more on lifting techniques, overall fitness, and nutrition. This led Chris to become a certified personal trainer and nutrition coach, earning the following credentials:

- National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer
Chris’ passion is to help others be the best version of themselves possible. At AFAC gym, you can find him teaching many of our group classes including Power Hour, Strength and Conditioning, Boot Camp, Fight Camp Cardio, Power Plate and More, Total Body Conditioning, TRX, Chris’ Full Body Fitness, and Mixed Martial Arts.
April Coleman
April is also a Colorado native. She grew up loving music, dancing, and singing. Before she became a personal fitness trainer, April was a caregiver who enjoyed helping her clients. Her desire to heal others became her passion, and now her goal is to heal the world, one person at a time.
In addition to being a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), April also teaches several group classes at AFAC gym including Rhythm Cycling, Dance Party Fitness, CIRCL Mobility, Strong Nation HIIT, Circuit Training, Strength and Conditioning, Fight Camp Cardio, Stretch and Mobility, and Boot Camp.
